For more than five centuries, the Palacio Nacional - formerly the Viceregal Palace - has been the seat of political power, and as such, the scene of some of the most momentous events that marked the life of Mexico: conspiracies, popular riots, civic acts and political treaties, to mention a few. For some time he also lodged with Parliament, the judiciary and a prison in the viceregal era. And already in the twentieth century, it also became an art venue, under the murals made by the famous Mexican painter Diego Rivera.
